About Elder Effiong Essien
Elder Effiong Essien has served as the Head of Civil Service for Akwa Ibom State since 2015, bringing over two decades of distinguished public service experience to this critical role. His leadership has been instrumental in transforming the state's civil service into a more efficient, transparent, and citizen-focused institution.
Born and raised in Akwa Ibom State, Elder Essien holds a Master's degree in Public Administration and has completed extensive leadership training programs both locally and internationally. His career in public service began in 1995, where he quickly distinguished himself through his commitment to excellence and innovative approaches to governance.
Under his leadership, the Akwa Ibom State Civil Service has implemented numerous reforms including digital transformation initiatives, capacity building programs, and performance management systems that have significantly improved service delivery to citizens.
Elder Essien is also actively involved in community development and has received several awards for his contributions to public service excellence. He is married with three children and is an active member of his local church community.
